Sometimes it’s the small things that make you realise you are finally home, and for Katie it was hanging all her clothes in her beautiful, fitted wardrobes in her new Kellen Cherry home.
Katie and partner Joe have just moved into their new, four-bedroomed Kellen home at Vernon Gardens in Royton and, after four years of living in three rented homes, for Katie, having her clothes organised in a stylish new wardrobe was the moment she realised she had achieved their dream.
The pair met in 2019 and chose Vernon Gardens in Royton to buy their first home together to be near teacher Joe’s family and his daughter who spends part of the week living with the pair.
Katie a recruitment specialist for BUPA explains: “I’m originally from Cheshire but when we decided to buy together, Royton seemed like the perfect choice. Having lived in London I love having a centre that you can walk to with restaurants and shops and cafes. And then we found Vernon Gardens.
“Joe has a huge family, so it made sense to move here and when we saw the house and the plot, we knew it was right for us.”
Katie works from home for some of the time so she wanted a room she could have as her office and close the door at the end of the working day. She’s ordered a desk, but the couple have decided to take their time about choosing the décor for the rest of the house.
She said: “We want to live in the space before we make any more decisions. I’ve got a couple of ideas, but I am quite picky. We choose a herringbone floor and a kitchen, and I absolutely love it and we decided to do the bedroom and the wardrobes first because I wanted to be able to organise my clothes.
“Now I want to gradually choose the colours and furniture for the rest of the house, so we get exactly what we want.”
