As a busy family, the kitchen is the heart of the home for the Dearsleys and they love a kitchen disco, so, when they saw the layout of the Kellen Cypress home, they were sold.
The family had lived in Oldham for over 20 years, but their old home was chilly, away from the town centre and it had a dated layout with a small kitchen separated from the rest of the living and dining space.
Mum Ruth, 46 and a speech and language therapist, explained: “We wanted a proper family space at the heart of the home. We all have busy lives, but we come together over food and in the evenings and we love a kitchen disco! Our old home had a disjointed living space, so I always felt separate from everyone while I was cooking, and we wanted to be closer to shops, pubs and friends and family.
‘When Vernon Gardens came up and I first saw the layouts, I knew it was the one for us. Our new home has a large kitchen, dining and living space that we all come together in to eat, chat, do homework, watch screens and have a dance when we feel like it! But there’s a separate living room as well which is just perfect.”
Rob, 42, a bank manager, works from home and has noticed how warm and cosy the new house is. Ruth said: “We can’t believe how warm it is. We have already seen the difference in the bills, and we are so much warmer than we were in the old house.
The couple have three children with two still living at home - Harry aged 13, and Freddy aged 8 - so the three bedroomed Cypress was ideal for them. They sold their own home in a week and the whole process of moving in was smooth. Even their furniture has fitted in beautifully to their new home.
Ruth said: “The rooms are really spacious so our furniture has fitted really well but we have treated ourselves to some lovely outdoor sofas because the garden is so easy to access and it really is another room outdoors. We are really pleased – we love our new home.”
