Kellen Homes has handed over the keys to the first of 49 new homes in Royton to Great Places’ Housing Group.
Leader of Oldham Council and local Councillor for Royton South, Amanda Chadderton, visited the first of the new two and three bedroomed houses at Vernon Gardens in Royton to officially mark the start of handovers to Great Places’ new customers. Councillor Chadderton took the opportunity to inspect the completed homes and see the finishing touches being put to some of the other houses.
The handovers are part of a new 99 home mixed-tenure development by Kellen Homes working in partnership with Great Places and will provide 49 affordable homes for local people.
Eleanor Ogilvie from Kellen Homes said of the handover: “We are delighted to be able to complete and handover the first of the 49 new homes to Great Places. Vernon Gardens is a popular new mixed tenure development in the heart of Royton with a blend of privately-owned and affordable homes and these houses will provide the new Great Places residents with well-located, high-quality homes.”
Helen Spencer, Executive Director of Growth from Great Places added: “We’re delighted to be working alongside Kellen Homes at Vernon Gardens to deliver much-needed affordable homes in the local area.
“Bringing brownfield sites back into use by building mixed tenure communities is a shared ambition of both organisations and we look forward to further opportunities to work with Kellen. Vernon Gardens is the latest in a string of projects for Great Places within Oldham where we continue to experience high demand and need for our homes.”
Local councillor Amanda Chadderton said: “I’m really impressed with the size and the quality of the homes and I know from speaking to local residents that the community is delighted with this new development which brings much needed new homes to the popular area of Royton.”
