Leading Northwest housebuilder Kellen Homes has been given the go-ahead to build 168 new homes on the former British Vita site on Seaford Road in Salford.
Planners this week approved the £35 million scheme which will see 96, one and two bedroomed apartments and 72, two and three bedroomed homes developed on the former factory site. The development will include three, four-storey complexes – two to the east of the site fronting Seaford Road, and the other to the west of the site.
Kellen Homes Chief Executive Ian Kelley said: “This is a superbly located site that local people will know very well, and we are delighted to have secured consent to create 168 new homes in a popular part of Salford. Our development will see new life brought to this disused factory site and provide much-needed homes for local people.
“This development really is testament to Kellen Homes’ ability to bring forward challenging sites through innovative designs and partnerships and I am delighted that we have secured planning consent for the scheme.”
The 5.3-acre site is located close to the River Irwell and Peel Park in the Charlestown area of Salford. It has been vacant since 2009. WSP is the planning consultant for the project and Kellen has designed the scheme inhouse. Ascerta is the landscape architect.
