Kellen Homes and Great Places Housing Group have secured planning consent to build 200 new homes and create a large public open space at Mirrlees Fields in Stockport.
The leading North West housebuilder has partnered with Great Places Housing Group, a registered provider managing 26,000 homes for people across the North West and Yorkshire, to bring forward the new development which will provide 200 new homes – a mix of one bedroomed apartments and two, three and four bedroomed houses - all of which will be affordable housing available through either shared ownership or social rent.
The plans also include the provision of over 18 hectares of dedicated informal public open space for use by the local community in perpetuity.
Ian Kelley, Chief Executive of Kellen Homes, said of the development: “This planning consent marks a vital milestone in this superb new development. We are delighted to once again be partnering with Great Places to deliver this important injection of new affordable homes for the people of Stockport in this highly desirable location.
“We are immensely proud that this development also includes the improvement and preservation of a significant area of open space that will, because of this scheme, be available to the local community in perpetuity.”
Nick Gornall, Director of Development at Great Places said of the development: "We’re delighted to be working alongside Kellen Homes on this exciting development, which will deliver much-needed affordable homes in Stockport. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to creating high-quality, sustainable communities where people can thrive.
“By combining new homes with extensive public open space, we’re not only addressing housing need but also enhancing the local environment for generations to come."
